On the heels of a cyberattack on the EMA, cybercriminals have now leaked Pfizer and BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine data on the internet.
EMA, the European Medicines Agency, the European homolog of the FDA in the US, was a victim of the cyberattack which stole sensitive data related to COVID-19 vaccinations. This data was leaked on the internet, back in December. The bad actors broke into its servers and accessed documentation about the vaccines from Pfizer and BioNTech. The attackers showed more interest in the documents and personal data of the companies COVID 19 vaccine candidates.
Privileged documents about these vaccines – and the development process behind them – could be used for malicious intents, such as to create disinformation or industrial espionage to speed up the vaccine development in other countries.
